Amazon Best Selling Novel
At Stroke Awareness Oregon, I was given the opportunity to manage the multi-faceted literary project, "Just Say 'Yes' to Life!" This inspirational novel compiled the stories of 26 stroke survivors, offering hope and resilience to the stroke community. Overseeing a dedicated team of 26 stroke survivors, 9 writers and a single editor, we worked diligently to complete the survivor interviews and finalize the book in time for National Caregiver Month. Through a strategic and organic marketing campaign utilizing the networks of everyone associated with the novel, we not only achieved our initial goal of selling 1,000 copies within the first month but far surpassed it, selling over 4,000 copies internationally. The novel's success was further cemented when it topped the Amazon New Best-Seller rankings.
Customized Air Force 1’s
for Avery and Evan
I initially met Avery’s family through my role as the Development Lead for Children’s Cancer Therapy Development Institute (cc-TDI). We wanted to make sure Avery, being a rhabdomyosarcoma champion, was included on the fun during one of our major fundraising campaigns. We invited both him, and his brother Evan, to paint portraits to be raffled off to our supporters; and as a thank you for joining our team - we created custom Air Force One’s for the two by branding them with temporary tattoos and a “cure blue” matte paint. The unboxing video captured made the entire special project worth it.
Comic Book Creation
As part of my work in the non-profit sector, I had the opportunity to create an innovative educational tool called "Stroke Heroes" designed to teach elementary school children about strokes. Aimed at 4th graders, this comic book provided essential knowledge on recognizing and responding to stroke symptoms in an engaging and accessible manner. The project included a quiz and a certificate at the end, ensuring the kids not only learned critical information but also retained it effectively. At the end of the day, stroke statistically attacks each household, and this initiative empowered young students with the ability to act swiftly and confidently in emergency situations, potentially saving lives and giving kids the chance to learn how to be a hero in their very own house.
Play Production
At Stroke Awareness Oregon, I took on the role of overall Producer for a remarkable live stream event aimed at supporting a stroke survivor’s dream of returning to the broadway stage. "Freedom Off the Page," involved immense planning, coordination, and execution.
Kim O’Kelley-Leigh’s became a close friend of Stroke Awareness Oregon quickly through her ongoing advocacy and story telling abilities in Central Oregon. When she came to our brand with the goal producing a play and getting back on stage - our team couldn’t say no. To achieve this, my responsibilities expanded as I immediately became the primary point of contact:
Scheduling and Venue Coordination: We secured an event date at The Tower Theater in downtown Bend,OR; ensuring it met all the logistical requirements for both the live performance and the live stream.
Marketing and Promotion: Our team created compelling marketing assets to generate buzz and attract an audience. This included designing promotional materials, managing social media campaigns, and reaching out to potential attendees and supporters.
Theater Crew Coordination: Worked in partnership with the theater crew to align all technical and logistical elements, from lighting and sound to stage design and rehearsal schedules.
Auction Management: To further support the event, I assisted with oversight of our auction items, coordinating with donors, managing the online POS data, and organizing the auction process to maximize fundraising efforts.
Live Stream Setup: Coordinated with the live stream crew to ensure a seamless broadcast of the event. This involved setting up cameras, managing the stream’s technical aspects, and ensuring high-quality video and audio output.
Digital Logistics: On the backend, I set up all digital logistics, including ticket sales, virtual attendee management, and post-event follow-ups with the live-stream recording.
Stroke Warrior Radio
Ralph approached me with a vision to create Stroke Warrior Radio (SWR), a radio station dedicated to inspiring individuals affected by stroke across the globe. Without an idea of where to start, we got to work.
My contributions to the success of SWR included:
Establishing the Digital Presence: I set up, managed, and assigned roles the business accounts on various social media platforms, ensuring a strong online presence and effective communication with our audience.
Building the Website Foundation: Together we created the foundational elements of the SWR website, ensuring it was user-friendly, informative, and engaging. This included designing the site layout, developing content, and integrating streaming capabilities.
Radio Station Development: Collaborating closely with Ralph, I helped transform his vision into a functional and successful platform via Radio.co - creating a smooth pathway for attendees to navigate and tune in to SWR.
Today, Stroke Warrior Radio is streaming 24/7 in 22 countries around the world. It stands as the first-ever radio station dedicated to stroke survivors, providing a constant source of inspiration and support to a global community.
